My steamship had returned to the shores of these United States in the city of Philadelphia, home to an old compatriot, the honorable Dr. Jacob P. Derrbody.
Having returned from the Orient, I needed to find someone whose expertise in the sciences matched my own. I had procured a combination of vital minerals, which I have come to abbreviate in a clever fashion as ‘vitamins’. Learned men like myself have extracted these vital minerals from produce and livestock, allowing one to simply ingest a pill that provides the healthy properties one gets from ingesting a hearty meal. But I am a man of the future, and I think our greatest inventions lay before us! Someday we will fly like birds, I say, this isn’t a mad dream, but a belief on our own greatness! But I digress. For in the fine city of Philadelphia, I sought a man who could distill my vital mineral formulation for a bold purpose untested by no others before me!
Dr. Jacob P. Derrbody was inquisitive by nature, yet pessimistic of possibilities. His initial response to my presentation was one of disbelief. “Chet, you are asking me to distill these, ‘vitamins’ as you say, into a liquid, and smear the concoction on your own face?”
I let out a belly laugh! His opposition was not insulting, but rather, an indication of his worry for my very sanity.
“I have found a way to rejuvenate the epidermis! To, in fact, restore a youthfulness, a suppleness, by invigorating the skin’s cellular structure directly!”
“MADNESS!” the good doctor Derrbody shouted, histrionics echoing in his laboratory. Yet intrigue danced in his eyes, for he knew Chet Manly would not boast without evidence to back such claims.
“Jacob, I have discovered a method for vitamins to maintain their molecular integrity in a liquid form, and can thus be dabbed on our skin, and allow the cells to drink in the vitamins!”
Jacob laughed at me, but not in a mocking fashion, for he had grown used to my bold inventions, and suspected that I had once again broken new ground in the world of grooming.
“What you are proposing, is regenerating and rejuvenating our youthful appearance, by circumventing the normal procedure of digestion and transport of said vitamins to the bloodstream?!?”
“Indeed” I replied, devilishly so.
My doctoral friend scoffed again, but his protestations were mere theater– He was already adjusting the dials of his microscope.
The scientific evidence was laid out before him, as he squinted into the lens, only for what he saw there to register, and then his eyes grew wide!
“You are playing God, Chet Manly! And as a man of science, I say to you, fuck yes!”
What it Does:
An antioxidant boost for your skin, this potent serum is armed with a powerful blend of vitamin C and is super-charged with ferulic acid, which increases its free radical fighting ability. This concentrated blend is also enriched with vitamins B and E, which all together boost natural defense against damaging oxidation caused by pollution, toxins, and other environmental stressors. While each ingredient provides a specific benefit to the skin separately, when combined they create a super serum that works on multiple levels to ensure beautiful skin. In addition, this amazing formulation will leave skin looking brighter, firmer, and more supple.
Why it’s Different:
L-Ascorbic Acid is a highly potent form of vitamin C, which is known to quickly lose efficacy when exposed to oxygen. The additions of vitamin E and ferulic acid to this formula not only increases its antioxidant content load, but also creates a self-stabilizing environment to preserve effectiveness, while working synergistically with vitamins B3 and B5 to provide a boost in antioxidant performance.
Hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and sodium PCA are natural humectants that continuously attract moisture to the skin. Simultaneously, vitamin E nourishes and protects the lipid barrier by keeping the moisture from escaping, thereby ensuring that hydration stays at optimum levels.
Each ingredient is used in its most effective form, and was specifically selected for its ability to affect real results on the skin.
- Antioxidants defend against free radical damage
- Increases moisture
- Helps skin appear brighter
- Improves elasticity
- Environmentally Induced Skin Sensitivity
- Premature Aging
- Skin Dehydration
- Good for all skin types
How it Works:
Antioxidants are very valuable weapons in the fight against aging. They effectively disarm environmental pollutants such as smog, smoke, and even light pollution, that could be harmful. Free radicals are unstable molecules that contain unpaired electrons. In this highly reactive state, they search their environment, looking to scavenge replacement electrons. This creates a domino effect, as free radicals steal electrons from healthy cells, creating more free radicals. When cells come in contact with damaged oxygen molecules, collagen begins to break down, and wrinkles and lines are formed. Antioxidants act as the first line of defense by neutralizing free radicals.
A plant-based antioxidant found in the cell walls of grains, ferulic acid effectively neutralizes free radicals that could otherwise cause premature aging. It also stabilizes vitamin C and enhances the nourishing benefi ts of vitamin E.
Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid)
Vitamin C in its most effi cacious form, L-Ascorbic acid is a powerful antioxidant. It is known for its ability to brighten the appearance of hyperpigmentation and effectively defend from oxidative stress.
Vitamin E (Tocopherol)
A hydrophobic molecule, meaning a molecule that is not water soluble, Tocopherol restores hydration by nourishing the lipid barrier and preventing the evaporation of existing moisture, known as transepidermal water loss, or TEWL. It also acts as an antioxidant and is highlighted by its stabilizing abilities in this formula.
Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide)
Also known as vitamin B3, niacinamide can improve the appearance of enlarged pores, brighten dull skin, as well as defend against environmental toxins. Niacinamide also has a hydrophilic molecular structure, meaning it attracts water from its environment.
Vitamin B5 (Panthenol)
This form of Provitamin B5 is a hydrophilic, or water absorbing, humectant and conditioner that works to pull in and bind moisture to the skin.
Hyaluronic Acid (Sodium Hyaluronate)
Known for its ability to hold up to 1000 times its weight in water, Hyaluronic Acid is a humectant that draws moisture into the skin.
Sodium PCA is a naturally occurring humectant that is a derivative of amino acids. It is known to be hygroscopic, or able to absorb water from the air, making it an excellent hydrating ingredient.
Glycerin is a humectant that works by balancing moisture levels, helping skin feel smoother and softer.
Directions for Use
Apply 3-5 drops every morning by pressing the serum onto the skin with fingertips. Recommended for the face, neck, and décolletage. Best followed by a mineral sunscreen for full UVA/UVB protection.
